The Meyer Foundation Grants and Contracts With Capacity Building Providers and Intermediaries

The Meyer Foundation has developed a pro bono strand of its grantmaking. “There are certain types of capacity building that can be prohibitively expensive and so there’s value in engaging volunteers to do the work,” says Rick Moyers, vice president of programs and communications. The foundation supports nonprofits like the Taproot Foundation, that drives social change by engaging volunteers in pro bono service, and Stone Soup Films, a nonprofit production company that helps DC nonprofits tell better stories through film. It also works with professional associations and alumni networks, including the DC Bar Pro Bono program, which benefits DC’s low-income residents and those organizations that serve them, and Compass, which brings together alumnae across MBA programs to offer pro bono consulting to DC area nonprofits.
