How do you translate between philanthropy and community organizing?
As we researched GrantCraft's guide, Funding Community Organizing: Social Change through Community Engagement, we heard from several contributors that they're often called upon to "translate" across a cultural chasm that separates community organizing from philanthropy. How do web-based tools fit in your communications strategy?
Online media tools are changing foundation and nonprofit communications. But how widely are those tools actually being used, and for what?  As we developed our guide Communicating for Impact: Strategies for Grantmakers, we pitched the question to our subscribers. Well over 1,500 responses came in, split evenly between grantmakers and non-grantmakers (including grantees, consultants, academics, and others). From our guide Communicating for Impact: Strategies for Grantmakers.

Roles@work: Are you playing with a full deck?
What roles make a grantmaker effective? Grantmakers assume many different roles in the course of their work. To learn more about how grantmakers weigh and balance their roles, we chose a dozen from our Roles@work card deck and asked readers to rate them. We also invited non-grantmakers to share their views. See the summary of our findings below or read the complete report. Based on GrantCraft's Roles@work card deck.

More than 100 grantmakers responded to our short survey, and many took the time to jot down further tips. For more on this subject, see our guide The Effective Exit: Managing the End of a Funding Relationship.
