Stewart W. and Willma C. Hoyt Foundation Grants and Contracts With Capacity Building Providers and Intermediaries

Through its Southern Tier Capacity Building program the Stewart W. and Willma C. Hoyt Foundation has a nonprofit capacity building partner that hosts seminars focused on strengthening nonprofit governance and management operations. Then nonprofits can apply for mini-grants and organizational assessments in areas related to the seminar trainings. “Several local foundations now pool money together to support this program,” says Catherine Schwoeffermann, executive director of the foundation. “We have been in partnership now for about seven years, and I just see a huge difference for organizations involved. Nonprofits try to do the best that they can, but they don't always have the funding or the wherewithal to put systems in place to do their jobs better in service to the community. So we really see the value of this program.”
