New Resource for the Field: Working Well With Grantees

The Center for Effective Philanthropy recently published a new report, Working Well With Grantees: A Guide for Foundation Program Staff, which illuminates five essential areas where program staff can have a positive impact on grantees: forming strong relationships, providing assistance beyond the grant, offering operating support, creating a reporting and evaluation process that helps grantees, and preserving relationships while declining funding requests.

The findings in each area are based on data from surveys of nonprofits conducted by the Center for Effective Philanthropy .

The report includes insights from foundation staff and action steps that your foundation can take to become a stronger partner for your grantees. After reading, do share your thoughts with us. What do you agree with? What else would you add? Anything you will change in your work as a reaction to the reading?
