Our quest: To strengthen the social sector by advancing knowledge about philanthropy worldwide. In 1956, Foundation Center was incorporated as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3). Since then, we have grown into a $27M organization with 160 staff spread among five regional hubs. Annually, we serve more than 100,000 people through our libraries, trainings, and Funding Information Network partners and well over 6 million more through tools and resources online. We've figured out how to make data user-friendly and applicable to your work by helping you to identify funding gaps through Foundation Maps, hosting conversations about the Sustainable Development Goals, and educating fundraisers on how to conduct prospect research so that their time is spent applying for the most relevant grants. GrantCraft has played a large role in the evolution of Foundation Center's ability to tell better stories with data and information that meet your needs and curiosities.
Foundation Center is supported through a combination of: 1) grants and donations of all sizes from donors around the world; 2) fees for selected products, services, licensing, and trainings; and 3) contracts for special projects that offer focused knowledge on a range of topics. On this #GivingTuesday, please consider how you — individually or as an organization — could also support our efforts to provide critical knowledge to the sector. Here are some ways you can support us today or in the coming months:
I get excited every time I meet someone who asks what Foundation Center does because it's an opportunity to connect them with resources that will undoubtedly help with their work. It's how mission meets reality on a daily basis. I am constantly motivated by the diverse, creative, passionate, and strategic ways that you all are working to improve the world, and I also have immense confidence in our talented staff who are providing leadership on numerous levels. Today, I'm donating to Foundation Center because I am as much a student of our work as a creator. I humbly invite you to join me in supporting the work we are doing to help you do what you do.
